BI Support Engineer
Job Description

Position Type: Full-Time
Hours: 9:00am to 5:00pm Weekdays (Monday – Friday)
BI (Business Intelligence) Support Engineer plays a critical role in maintaining and supporting business intelligence systems and tools used for data analysis, reporting, and decision-making. They ensure that BI platforms run smoothly, troubleshoot issues, and help end-users get the most out of BI tools.
Key Responsibilities
- System Maintenance and Monitoring: Managing the smooth operation of BI platforms, implementing updates, and overseeing the performance and health of BI systems and pipelines.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution: Identifying and resolving issues with BI reports, dashboards, or data connections.
- User Support and Training: Providing assistance to end-users with BI tool usage, addressing queries, and troubleshooting report issues.
- Data Integration and ETL Support: Helping integrate various data sources and ensuring ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes run without errors.
- Collaboration with IT Teams: Working closely with developers, database administrators, and data engineers to ensure data pipelines are robust and reports are accurate.
- Documentation: Creating documentation for troubleshooting procedures, system configurations, and user guides.
Technical Experience
- BI Tools Proficiency: Experience with BI tools like Power BI, Tableau, etc.
- SQL Knowledge: Expertise in writing and optimizing SQL queries to retrieve, manipulate, and validate data using technologies like: SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Redshift, Snowflake
- ETL Processes: Knowledge of ETL tools (e.g., SSIS) and processes to integrate data from different sources into BI systems.
- Data Warehousing: Understanding of data warehousing concepts and architecture using technologies like: Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Google BigQuery
- Cloud Platforms: AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud.
- API development & Integration: Experience working with REST APIs and related tools like Postman, OpenAPI specs, Swagger, YAML etc
- Serverless workflows: Experience integrating Azure Functions with multiple services for orchestrating complex operations
Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills
- Ability to troubleshoot data issues, system errors, and performance bottlenecks in BI tools.
- Strong analytical mindset to identify trends, anomalies, and issues in data and reporting systems.
- Debugging skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues in data pipelines, BI tools, or databases.
